Schools have broken up and the weather has been very typically British for the summer so far but the past few months have been very busy at Glencairn with lots going on.

Our Mini Bus trips started back in April and we’ve been heading out twice a month which all our residents enjoy. Even if the weathers been bad we’ve still managed to get out and go for a scenic trip and find an ice cream van!!

So far this year we’ve been to local garden centres at Owermoigne, Bridport and Wyevale as well as trips to Poole Harbour, West Bay, Weymouth & Portland Bill and Swanage.

Our Arts and Crafts sessions with Sarah have been very productive and our residents have been producing some lovely artwork which is on display in our lounge area.
In May residents created beautiful paintings of vases of flowers using oil pastels and paints as well as print making techniques.
In June residents used water colours, masking tape and charcoal to create lovely trees.
Impressionism was the theme for July and residents used Monet as their inspiration in producing their own art pieces using soft pastels and blending techniques.

As well as the residents artwork making the Home look lovely and fresh the regular flower arranging displays continue to do so as well.

Our Summer Fete was a great success and although the sun remained rather illusive on the day it stayed dry and the residents were able to enjoy Pimms and drinks outside in the courtyard area as well as inside. Lots of lovely cakes and desserts were on offer as well as strawberries and cream!!

The Tombola proved a big hit with some lovely presents being won, Champagne, Chocolates, Knitted Toys, Ornaments to name a few.

Resident favourite Hedley Kay came along and provided our entertainment for the day. A good old sing song of our favourite tunes was enjoyed by all. A lovely afternoon was had by all.

We’d like to wish Happy Birthday to all our residents who’ve had birthdays since our last news letter:
